Ingredients

1. Chopped apples

1 cup

3. Raisins

1/2 cup

5. Cloves

5 of them

6. Ginger root

1/2 - 1 inch chopped

6. Ghee or coconut oil

1 tbsp

8. salt

to taste

2. Prunes

3-4

4. dates

4-5

6. Cinnamon powder

1 tsp

6. Cumin seed

1/2 tsp

7. Cardamom pods/seeds

4-5

9. water

above the fruit level

Ayurvedic Information

My favourite spices for stewed fruits are great especially in fall and winter, making this warm bowl a perfect breakfast. Truthfully, I love it all year round. While usually fruit is not eaten for breakfast, cooking them this way can make them much lighter to digest and a great choice for a change. 

Most fruit is sattvic but it should be fresh and free of pesticides. 

 

Method of Preparation

In oil or ghee add the ginger powder, cumin seed, and cardamom until they become fragrant

Add the fruit and powdered spices

03

Add water up to half the content of the fruits

04

Cover until fruits are tender & optionally add salt and rinds
