Moments like these: Happy Solstice

Just getting around to posting the rising sun from December 22nd, the day when days begin to lengthen on the northern hemisphere.

Currently. I’m still floating around from place to place as I eventually find a home base to resettle. But having lived through a lot of others’ emotional chaos and walked a relatively solo path for the past few years of living abroad, I have learned so thoroughly in my bones to find home in these moments 🌞

Ayurveda speaks of 6 seasons, but first divides the year into two stages - the northern movement of the sun and the southern movement.

The darkening days are considered the more nourishing, when the internal fire grows stronger inward and digestion strengthens, the body does not lose heat as much to sweat.

For now, we can use the focus on sunrise to find hope through the remaining months of hibernation and to remove any building stagnation as slowly but surely the days lengthen.

It is not dead outside. The intelligence of the trees has also pulled their resources inward during the dark and cold months. In a few months the effects of the sun will also bring their energy from the core outward to the leaves and branches.

And so it is that this world is not at peace but when given the opportunity to see a peaceful day, I remember that my guiding compass is a cosmic natural order, not the calendars of capitalism and greed that ruthlessly toy with nature & self destruct.

The cosmic order can guide us with a little remembrance, discernment, and discipline back to ways of living that respect this earth and people and ways of life that respect her too.

I’m looking forward to settling again and to living and walking in my ways, sharing with anyone whatever I have and can create from a space of renewal. Looking forward
